I am queer and I am a biochemist.//

I am a queer biochemist from the University of Bristol doing my PhD in protein transport in E.coli. I realised my sexuality and came out during my PhD and everyone was really supportive. I helped organise a group of scientists to march at the local pride where we tie dyed lab coats and made a flag. Now an annual cake sale runs at pride every year where the department bakes rainbow cakes to raise funds for local mental health charity Off The Record. Each floor is assigned a different colour cake. I feel very lucky to be supported by great colleagues and friends in a brilliant city and university. @universityofbristol @boardinthelab
