I am queer and I am a molecular biologist. //
My name is Liza and I’m a molecular biologist! I received my BS and MS from UC San Diego while studying reproductive neuroendocrinology. There, I got to learn how to think like a scientist and use molecular biology techniques as tools to unravel how the brain controls reproduction. Now I work as a research assistant at The Scripps Research Institute where I work in a lab studying cell biology. One of the coolest parts of my job involves making viruses that allow us to visualize where in the cell certain proteins are localized. When I’m not in the lab I’m often doing martial arts or exploring the beautiful hikes and beaches of San Diego.
