Lisa Graumlich

She/Her

I am queer and I am a paleoecologist and a dean. //

My research using tree rings to reconstruct past climate has allowed me to explore the most beautiful mountain ranges of the world. I’m honored to serve as the inaugural dean of the College of the Environment at the University of Washington. I wake up every day thinking about how to make science more accessible and relevant to our planetary grand challenges. I am a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Ecological Society of America. I was recently elected to the American Geophysical Union’s Board of Directors. I live in Seattle with my mathematician wife and our two daughters.
