I am a lesbian and I am a chemist. //

I’m a supramolecular organic chemist. I’m also a proud skier, rock climber, dog mom, Seattle Reign fan, and a lesbian. I study reversible interactions to better design small molecule sensors for anionic pollutants. Another area of my research involves science communication to the general education pool of students and chemistry education. I also organize science outreach programs for students in grades K-12 to engage students of all backgrounds in science at an early age. I hope that by engaging students, particularly minorities like girls and LGBT+ kids, I’m showing them that they too can be a scientist—that we exist in the sciences.
