Leslie Kay
She/Her
I am a lesbian and I am a professor in psychology and neuroscience. //
My lab studies olfactory neurophysiology, mostly in rats. We ask questions about how associations, contexts, and hedonic value affect very early level olfactory processing—at the level of sniffing and early representations in the olfactory bulb. We study dynamics and bidirectional interactions between the olfactory bulb and higher order brain systems involved with learning and memory. I have trained graduate students from psychology, neurobiology, computational neuroscience, and biophysics. I came out when I was a senior in college and have mostly been out in my career (except when I applied for jobs). I try to use my status and privilege to make the university a better place for all. I live with my wife of 20 years and our two almost adult daughters.
