She/Her
I am pansexual and I am a doctoral student.//
After finishing my Master’s degree, I never meant to go back into science, nor did I ever intend to live in the small town of Freiberg – yet, here I am, happily researching in glass physics. While investigating the structural response of glasses to extreme conditions such as pressure and temperature, my projects touch fundamental physics of melts and solids, earth and material science. Interdisciplinary and multifaceted – just what I like.
This is also the place where I found my wonderful girlfriend. She’s the first woman in my life, after 27 years, and yes, something just snapped (anyway I don’t really feel the personal need for sexual categories). Luckily, I have never experienced anything else than acceptance and support from my whole environment. However, I do see the necessity of solidarity and visibility campaigns (thank you for this one!) for women in STEM and the LGBTQAI+ community in particular and make efforts to reinforce the university’s female network : )
