I am gay and I am a botanist.//
I focus on collections, floristics and taxonomy. I love field work and collecting plants. I am currently the Collections Manager of the University of New Mexico Herbarium at the Museum of Southwest Biology. In my role I am able to work with collections, actively collect and mentor other aspiring queer botanists. While I am a botanical generalist of the west I have a new interest in ferns and fern allies of New Mexico. I love meeting other gay botanists, what a delight.

I’m proud to be a botanist and the Curator of the Herbarium at Oregon State University, where I get to share my passion for plants with others. I’m also involved with science education research & outreach. I thank my wife of 22 years for encouraging my science journey—which gets more exciting every year.
