Giuliana Viglione
She/Her
I am queer and bi and I am a PhD candidate in environmental science. //
I use ocean robots to try to understand how small-scale changes in the upper ocean around Antarctica can influence global climate. I really enjoy engaging with the public around climate change and have taken part in and spearheaded a lot of outreach projects during grad school. I’m passionate about representation of minority groups in STEM—I helped found a group for women in geosciences at my school and I work for a non-profit called Out for Undergrad that promotes personal and professional development for LGBTQ+ undergrad students. When I’m not doing science or writing about science, I can be found watching soccer, running long distances, or trying to read a book with a cat on my chest.
