She/Her
I am queer and I am an aging scientist interested in healthy and pathological aging. //
I lived and studied in the U.S. for over 20 years and returned to my home country, Panama, in 2006. I head the Center for Neuroscience of INDICASAT AIP, a biomedical research institute focused on basic and clinical research of human diseases as well as biodiversity research. Our clinical aging program is the Panama Aging Research Initiative (PARI), a multidisciplnary research consortium at INDICASAT. PARI has interviewed and learned from over 700 aged adults since 2011 through an ongoing prospective cohort study focused on biomarkers of cognitive function for the early detection of dementia. I am a proud STEMinist, feminist and LGBTi activist, and work hard to attract all underrepresented minorities to science.
