She/Her, They/Them

I’m nonbinary and I’m a conservation biologist. //

I am a young Brazilian-American conservation biologist who has been lucky enough to work in carnivore conservation and landscape ecology on three different continents. I majored in geographic science at James Madison University (where I focused on lion/livestock issues for my honors thesis) and received a master’s degree in conservation biology from University of Cape Town in South Africa (where I looked at long-term impacts of communal farming on a resettled community’s environment). Freshly returned from Namibia, my specialty is human dimensions research, looking at the impact of humanity on wildlife species and the complexity inherent within. I plan to pursue a PhD in conservation biology in the same area as I can’t get enough of it! I’m also really into conservation tech, and am co-founder of the indie video game studio Bright Frog Game Studios. I like cats, caffeine, and Marvel comics, and also write fiction novels in my ‘spare’ time. Mostly, I want other nonbinary people to see that they can do anything they set their minds to and that they’re not alone in STEM—representation is so important!
