He/Him

I am gay and I am an immunologist.//

I am a proud, queer Taiwanese-American student at National Taiwan University, where I study Biochemistry, Law, and Public Health. I started my undergraduate journey at the University of Notre Dame, attending on a merit scholarship. In my four years (and counting) of biomedical research, my work has spanned Dengue and Zika virus-vector interactions, dendritic cell development, and transcriptional addiction in lung cancer. Most recently, I completed a summer rotation with Ya-Chi Ho’s group at the Yale University School of Medicine, where we harness cutting-edge single-cell multiomics technologies to study the dynamics of HIV-1 latency. I am fascinated not only by the biology of HIV, but also by the sociopolitical trauma of the ongoing HIV/AIDS pandemic, particularly across the LGBTQ+ spectrum. Along this line, I am also conducting research in health law, including a project examining the “judicialization” of a right to health in Latin America. Currently, I am applying to return to the U.S. for Ph.D. studies in immunology (broadly), with the ultimate goal of using rigorous science to effectively inform policy. Outside of work, I am a semi-professional musician with the Taipei Philharmonic; I also enjoy cooking, powerlifting, and sharing my love for my home country of Taiwan.
