I am bi and I am an evolutionary ichthyologist.//
I am a Ph.D. candidate at Auburn University, and I study the evolution of form and function in fishes. I am particularly interested in how skeletal shape diversified and what functional implications it has in catfishes.
I am a first-generation college student with a learning disablility (dysgraphia) which has made many processes in academia difficult. I have only just started to feel more comfortable with who I am at 32 years old and have begun to make efforts to help other LGBTQ+ students feel more comfortable. For example, I worked with the AU Natural History Museum to create a pride flag sticker and have been working with DEI committees to make changes within our department and across our college.
