I am queer and genderqueer and I am a veterinarian, disease ecologist, and head of science communication for a biotech company. //
I’m a genderqueer interdisciplinary scientist. After getting my veterinary degree, I did a PhD and postdoctoral work studying ecological immunology and immune trade-offs in wildlife with macro-microparasite coinfections, and interactions between parasites and the gut microbiome in wildlife. I’m an advocate for parasite conservation, and have coauthored several papers on this subject; as an artist, I’m also currently illustrating a parasitology coloring book because parasites are awesome. I now work as the head of scientific publishing and academic collaborations for a molecular technology company, and I’m passionate about bridging the gap between academia and industry.
