He/Him

I am gay and I am a marine biologist. //

I’m a researcher working at the Rohwer-Wegley marine microbiology laboratory, where I use genomic tools to study the role of Flavobacteriia in reef degradation. I’m an avid aquarist and I have designed and maintained several large aquaria used in advanced experimental units that study microbial processes. I have worked at the U.S. Geological Survey as a hydrologist and at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency as a microbiologist. I’m originally from the Deep South and have been out since I was 15 years old, and have fought for LGBTQ rights ever since. I am very proud of my partner who is also an out, queer scientist.
