I am bi and I am a microbiology analyst.//
Hey everyone, I’m Becca!!
I am currently training in as a microbiology analyst for a global pharmaceutical company. To know that I am working for a company who makes such a huge impact on thousands of peoples’ lives every day makes me feel so proud.
I found it really difficult to start my career after finishing college as there were very few entry-level jobs available for someone with no “experience”. For a few years I bounced from random job to random job, never staying in one place for long because I didn’t want to “become a lifer” in a job that didn’t let me live up to my full potential. It sometimes felt like I would never see the inside of a professional lab and as if I had wasted three years of my life; my degree stuffed away on a shelf somewhere gathering dust.
However, my story changed earlier this year (six years after graduating!!) when I had someone recognise my potential and finally give me a shot!
I had a long journey getting to this point in my career (there were more than a couple of times when I wanted to just give up and never look back), but similarly to a mountain climber I feel like I’ve reached the top of this peak and can finally take a deep breath of fresh air, enjoy the view and start to look ahead to my next adventure.
