I am gay and I am a conservation biologist, ornithologist, and museum curator. //
When I was in university and grad school, I didn’t know any other out scientists. I felt isolated, and didn’t feel part of a community. Now I hope I can stick my head about the parapets in a way that means others won’t feel so alone. In the last five years, I’ve met so many wonderful LGBTQ+ STEM folk from all over the world; something I would have never imagined just a few years ago. Diverse people in diverse fields means diverse science!
